FAIRVIEW VILLAGE — The Pioneer Athletic Conference girls basketball contest on Thursday night between Boyertown and host Methacton would not decide a championship or even a playoff spot … but it was about as big an early-season game as you can get.
Both the Bears and the Warriors knew that the winner would take over undisputed possession of second place in the Liberty Division and also take a huge step toward a spot in the Final Four playoffs ... and they played for 32 minutes and beyond as if the season did indeed depend upon the outcome.
The game went down to the wire – three times, in fact – before Boyertown finally pulled out a 66-65 win in double overtime. Kaitlyn Eisenhard provided the deciding point when she sank the second of two free throws with two seconds left and Kaitlyn DeHaven intercepted a pass for the Bears just beyond midcourt as time expired.
