Three times as many turnovers as shot attempts in the first quarter is definitely not the way to start a basketball game.
But that’s how the Boyertown girls began Saturday afternoon’s Athletes for Better Education Basketball Showcase contest at Spring-Ford High School. And they never could dig themselves out of the hole that early poor play caused in a 55-44 loss to Parkland.
Kaitlyn Eisenhard led the Bears (14-3), who had an 11-game winning streak snapped, with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Callie Krajcir scored 12 for Parkland (14-1), which has now won 13 in a row.
