Pottsgrove looks to complete perfect regular season

PHOENIXVILLE — There was a day when Pottsgrove didn’t fare all that well against Phoenixville. The last six years, well, that’s another story.
The Falcons have squeezed seven wins into that stretch, defeating the Phantoms twice last season – in their Pioneer Athletic Conference finale (47-7) as well as in the District 1-Class AAA final (42-13).
Tonight, there’s nothing head coach Bill Furlong and his Phantoms would like more than to slam the brakes on that skid. Not only would a win be their fourth straight and absolutely clinch a spot in the postseason, it could possibly deny the unbeaten Falcons an outright PAC-10 title and avoid a very possible opening-round district playoff game next week against none other than the Falcons.
Sure sounds like a good mix of motivation.
“We’re trying not to overplay that,” Furlong said of last year’s two losses to Pottsgrove. “Last year we made a big deal out of it and it didn’t work out.
