ROYERSFORD — Spring-Ford was trying to wrap up its third straight
second-place finish and Methacton was looking for an upset when the two
teams completed their Pioneer Athletic Conference wrestling schedules
Wednesday night.
And late in the match, either of those outcomes
was still possible after the Warriors closed to within a point with
three bouts to go.
But Spring-Ford senior Ben Schein — who had
pulled off one of the biggest wins of the year a week ago — came through
again. This time he earned a major decision to keep his team on top and
Frankie Krauss and Jon Cooper followed with decisions of their own for a
33-21 win. As a result, the Rams (8-1, 20-4 overall) once again
finished as runner-up to three-time undefeated champion Owen J. Roberts,
a 59-10 winner over Phoenixville.
