Most area football fans would agree there aren’t any marquee games on
this weekend’s calendar. Just don’t try to pass that logic onto those
who follow Perkiomen Valley, Spring-Ford, Pottsgrove and Phoenixville.
All
four – especially Phoenixville – need to continue their winning ways to
keep pace in the District 1 playoff points standings.
Perkiomen
Valley, arguably the most improved team since the season opened last
month, is situated in a tie with Downingtown West for seventh place in
the district’s AAAA standings. Spring-Ford improved two spots from last
week and is now 12th, or somewhat comfortably inside the Top 16 that
qualify for the postseason.
Unbeaten Pottsgrove, meanwhile, is
still on top of the AAA bracket. Phoenixville, which has dropped two of
its last three games, is in the eighth and last spot.
So, with
just four games remaining before the math is completed and the points
standings are finalized, rest assured every game from here on in is a
very important and very big game for the four area teams.
