READING — Nothing went right for Daniel Boone at the beginning of the second half of its Berks Football League Section I contest following a lightning and tornado warning delay of well over an hour.
Reading broke a halftime tie with three touchdowns in a span of just 4-1/2 minutes as the Red Knights intercepted a pass and recovered an onside kick and rolled on to a 31-6 win at Albright College’s Shirk Stadium.
It took the Red Knights (3-2, 4-4 overall) just three plays to cover 68 yards following the long delay, with Jolan Branford’s 13-yard touchdown run giving Reading a 12-6 lead just 61 seconds into the third quarter. Things quickly got even worse for the Blazers (2-3, 2-6) when Branford intercepted a pass, setting up a 39-yard touchdown drive. Then the Red Knights recovered an onside kick and scored again for a 24-6 advantage with 7:28 still remaining in the third quarter.
